Date Night LBD

Oh, the classic, timeless LITTLE BLACK DRESS.

It is a wardrobe essential that is elegant, sexy, and versatile all at the same time.  I love wearing it.  I also love the color black, which makes it even more than a necessity to have in my closet.  I have a ton of lbd’s, but of course, I am always on the lookout for more.

A dress I am currently in love with is a fit and flare plunge dress from Daily Look.  The A-line silhouette compliment both a curvy and curve-less figure. The empire waistline and plunge neckline accentuate the busts for those who, like me, needs the most. 😉  The mini-dress style elongate the legs.  With the perfect stilettos and accessories, this seductive LBD will make you feel like all eyes are on you.

For your next Date Night (or ladies night out) pair your LBD with heels and a clutch in Pantone’s 2015 Color of the Year, Marsala.

Enjoy your date night ladies, I am sure you will look lovely!

Chopstick, Wine…. & Paris!!!!

Tonight, I had the wonderful opportunity to attend one of the most amazing events I have ever experienced, thanks to my sister, Natalie….

The Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce produced their 12th annual “Chopsticks and Wine” event at the Hawaii Convention Center entitled “Ooh La La…” a petite Paris, featuring Hawaii culinary delights and unlimited wine 😉

More photos later, but here is an idea of my outfit for the evening.  Stripes & red- very Parisienne!

Dance of the Pink Peplum Fairy & the Newly Crowned Queens

Woke up this morning and felt the after effect of running around in heels for almost 12 hours straight.  Both of my legs are cramping.  Nothing new, though, just another day in the world of pageants and fashion shows.

Wearing a pink peplum dress and 5-inch pumps, surrounded by beautiful little princesses, on-the-go all day and all night- I felt like a (worn-out) Sugar Plum Fairy welcoming everyone to the Kingdom of Sweets.

Of course, minus the wings and the fancy, graceful ballet choreography to Tchaikovsky’s classic celesta piece.  Not to mention, my newly painted nails were peeling AND makeup smeared by the end of the evening.

All the months and months of preparation comes down to this one night.  And in the end it always, always is a splendid feeling to see my girls onstage, so brave and so elegant.  Once the lights turn off, the music starts playing, and the first contestant take their first walk and the audience are at awe, we know that all of it was worth it.

Superman – The Man of Steel

It’s a bird, it’s a plane… it’s Superman!

The Man of Steel. (gasps)

Seeing the movie preview before The Dark Knight Rises gave me goosebumps all over, I am absolutely looking forward to seeing this next summer.

Directed by Zach Snyder, the much anticipated The Man of Steel stars the stunning black-haired, blue-eyed Henry Cavill as Clark Kent.

There was a little glint of hope in us Smallvilleholics that Tom Welling would have snatched this role, but there is an undeniable magnetism in Cavill that oozes Clark Kent’s charm and Superman’s vigor.  Twenty nine years old, standing at 6’1”, Cavill appeared in films such as I Capture the Castle, Tristan and Isolde, and The Immortals, as well as the popular Showtime series The Tudors.  Interestingly, Stephanie Meyer (author of the Twilight series) strongly wanted Cavill to play Edward Cullen (too old to play the role), and was also considered as the next James Bond (Daniel Craig got the part).  The universe had other plans for ya, Henry.   You are the perfect Clark Kent, and you can pull of his glasses pretty damn well.

Ladies and gentlemen, introducing the new Superman.

Notice anything with the costume? Revamped and a little “alienistic”. New chain-like texture, similar to Spiderman’s costume, which gives it a more serious tone. Also, for the first time ever, no red briefs. Someone finally got the message that no one (not even a superhero) in their right fashion state of minds would wear their underwear outside of their pants.

Speaking of, what does one wear to a movie premier of Superman? Kelsie and I joked about wearing superman t-shirts to the theaters to proclaim our love to Clark Kent, but I thought a Superman-inspired outfit would do. Considering it will be in the summer, a light ensemble of shorts and t-shirt, or a light maxi dress with flip flops.

The Man of Steel premiers June 14, 2013. The all-star ensemble also include Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Russel Crowe (Jor-El), and Kevin Costner and Diane Lane (Mr. & Mrs. Kent).

Jet Set Chic- How To Travel In Style

Okay, okay….

I know what you are thinking… “Miss Honey, you should be fired for not posting any fashion-related topics, why do you even bother to call this blogosphere of yours ‘Honey’s Closet’?”

Sorry, sorry….

My life is currently is a huge transition right now (and when I say huge, I mean immense, massive, colossal…) Vast changes are undertaking, but let’s sit and talk about it over delicious mocha fraps another day.

Anywho, a couple days ago, the lover and I have confirmed a fantastic trip planned with the family in late September. An autumn trip in the west coast- SoCal and LV, here we come 😉

Upon receiving our flight confirmation, first thing that came to mind is, “What am I going to wear?” It’s a common question among fashionistas who wants to look fabulous but still feel comfortable sitting for hours until the plane reaches its final destination. Not to mention preflight- the wait for TSA, stopovers, and post flight- the long walk (and wait) to baggage claim followed by another ride in a taxi cab to the hotel. Ugh.

But not to worry, ladies. You can look glamorous even on the go!

Just like my previous post, Lazy Chic Fashion, the secret is to look effortless, but stylish.

Travel Wardrobe Essentials:

1. JEGGINGS-  The look and protection of jeans, at the comfort of leggings, jeggings are the perfect bottoms to wear mid-air. Come on, do you REALLY want to wear shorts on a chair a million of people have sat on?!
2. BOYFRIEND TEE-  Perfect for layering, a loose tee can be worn by itself or under a sweater or jacket (see #3)
3. CARDIGAN SWEATER-  The perfect medium between a thick heavy coat and a long sleeve tee, cardigans are warm enough for an overnight flight, and still easy to remove through security.
4. BOOTS-  Great for traveling, choose a pair that’s comfortable and have a full inside zipper for convenience at airport security.
5. SUNGLASSES–  While traveling, keep makeup to minimum, and conceal tired peepers with large sunglasses from check-in through boarding.
6. OVERSIZED SCARF–  A dresser upper accessory, your scarf can also act as your blanket, and hey, when folded enough, even a pillow!
7. CLASSIC DUFFEL–  Holds all your basics, while looking clean and polished. Don’t forget all types of identification- State ID, passport, driver’s license. Always have a backup just in case.

“We live in a wonderful world that is full of beauty, charm and adventure. There is no end to the adventures we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open.”– Jawaharial Nehru

Bon Voyage!

Honey
