Happy Pi(e) Day! A recipe of No-Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie

It’s March 14th, aka 3.14, aka short for mathematical ratio of a circle, aka pi (3.14159265359 and it goes on).  What makes it most important this year is it is Rounded Pi Day, 03.14.16.  Get it?  This year we can round it up to four digits!

So in honor of  Pi Day and all things with a circumference, I baked pie.  Because what’s round and sounds like pi?  😉 Ok, well, I made pie.   I came across a delicious no-bake recipe of No-Bake Peanut Butter Pie from AllRecipes.com and decided to try it!

With a little bit of tweaking of the toppings, here is the end result:

It’s melt-in-your-mouth delicious!!!  Especially for those whole love peanut butter AND chocolate.

Below is my version of this recipe, (No Bake) Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie

INGREDIENTS
(1 1/2) cup powdered sugar
(1) 8 oz. package cream cheese
(1) cup peanut butter (your choice, smooth or crunchy, I used smooth Skippy peanut butter)
(1) cup milk (I used 2% reduced fat milk)
(2) 8 oz. frozen whipped topping — (or (1) 16 oz. package)
(2) 9-inch graham cracker crust

TOPPINGS
Chocolate Syrup (I used Hershey’s double chocolate sundae dream)
Chocolate Bar (I used Lindt Milk Chocolate Hazelnut Torte)

INSTRUCTIONS
1. Beat cream cheese and powdered sugar together.
2. Mix in peanut butter and milk. Beat until smooth.
3. Fold in whipped topping.
4. Spoon into two 9 inch graham cracker pie shells; cover, and freeze until firm. Should be frozen between 2 1/2 – 3 hours.
5. After pies are frozen, squeeze chocolate syrup in zig zag motion.
6. Grate some parts of the chocolate bar and sprinkle on pies.
7. Cut remaining chocolate pieces and add as topping.

The great thing about this recipe is you can also make it “low fat” by substituting ingredients with their light versions- light cream cheese, skim milk, light whipped topping and reduced fat peanut butter.

Unlike the infinite and complex pi number, this pie is so  simple to make, so easy as pie!

Happy Pi Day!!!

Hawaii World Class Wedding Expo 2015

For brides and groom alike, bridal shows are fun and informative.  A one-stop shop for all things wedding, it is definitely an event to attend.  It’s a chance to network with vendors and ask them questions about almost everything.

Some tips in attending a Bridal Show:

*Create a wedding email address. Use this email specifically for wedding stuff, to make life less cluttered and you don’t miss out on vendor communication, promotions and updates.
*Bring labels with your Name, Fiance’s Name, Email Address and Phone #. This makes submitting information so much more easier and effortless!
*Bring your calendar to schedule appointments, wedding organizer/planner, and wallet/checkbook for payments as many vendors have Expo specials if you sign with them that day.
*Wear comfortable shoes. As fabulous as you look in your mile-high heels, this is not the time to wear them as you will be doing a lot of walking, standing, and more walking.
*Come prepared to ask (and answer) a lot of questions. The more questions you ask, the more info you receive, and the easier for you to make your decision.
*Take lots of pictures. For inspiration or just as keepsake, take a lot of photos- smiling of course, as you’ll be walking down that memory lane later.
*Bring your squad, gals and guys, as it makes it even more enjoyable to bring your support group with you.

Don’t forget to have LOTS OF FUN. I mean lots, this wedding planning process is supposed to be enjoyable, not stressful.

See you there, bride! 😉

The Cloning of X-23

This past weekend we attended the much anticipated Amazing Hawaii Comic Con. There were a lot of blunders and disorganization expected from a “first-time” event being held here in Hawaii, but I won’t get into that. It was a fun experience overall, and I will do it again next year, although we probably won’t invest in their so-called “VIP Package”, because it did nothing for us. Again, I will not go over that.

This post is about the making, or cloning should I say, of the character that I chose to dress up as, the superhuman, supersexy assassin X23.

X23_Cosplay_HoneyAubrey

Close enough, I guess.   This is my version, as this is the most undressed I will ever get in public.  I wore a pair of high-waisted (versus X23’s low-waist style) vegan leather leggings from Daily Look.  I paired it with a lace bralette from Victoria’s Secret, as I wanted to add a touch of femininity to it.  Lace & leather ;).  The combat boots were bought last minute our nearest Target, the belt buckle accents gave the outfit a she-is-going-to-squash-you look.  Yup, she’s wearing lace, but X23 means business.  The black “choker” was actually bra straps I took from one of my VS multi-way bras.  It proved itself to be very multiway, alright.  Hook and adjust was all it took.   The gloves were from six Halloweens ago when I dressed up as glamour Barbie.  I remember it went well with the hot pink party dress and blonde wig, and mile-high heels.  Thanks, Barbie.  The belt was not really a belt, but a removable strap from a weekender bag I got from VS a very long time ago.  Last but not least, her claws….Just like her backstory, X23’s claws came from Wolverine as well.  Scored an official Wolverine Claw toy from Amazon.  Made of styrofoam, it was very easy to just chop that middle claw, since X23 only has two claws per hand, not three.   I was missing her pendant and the X logo for the belt.  Regardless cosplayers and attendees recognized who she was.

Surprisingly, X23 was noticed more that I thought she would have.  There were so many photo opps requested from all ages, there were even little girls who swears she is their favorite character.

The best comment ever was, “You look so cool.  You are like a Disney Princess that kills people!.”

Absolutely loved it!!!

This is my favorite candid with one of her fans…  (Thank you Natalie Millon & PhotoLuxe for your pictures!)

X23_AmazingHawaiiComicCon_HoneyAubrey

As X23 I also had the opportunity to meet a talented and amazing local artist, Lynne Yoshii, who did such a commendable thing that I admired so much.  I became a fan in an instant!  X23 has not reached the same success in pop culture or in the theaters as other X-Men women characters like Rogue, Storm, Mystique or Jean Gray (just to name a few).  Her following consists of die hard fans or readers of the X-Men / Wolverine series, so I was not expecting a lot of commercial products at the con featuring X23 that I could purchase as a memorabilia.  I searched anyway.  When I was about to give up, I came across Lynne’s booth and browsed through her portfolio.  Then a few pages in,  I saw a stunning sketch of X23.   I immediately wanted to purchase it, only to be told that she was sold out and that was not for sale because she needed it for her portfolio.  I was so sad since this was the only X23 that I saw throughout the whole weekend.  Lynne then offers to give me a “misprint” version of the artprint because they had some issues with the printer on the upper part of the page.  Totally not noticeable at all.  She did not want my money.  I accepted the “misprint” with a gigantic smile on my face.  I was sooo enamored with the artprint, Lynne’s quality of work, and her quality of customer service.  I will never forget what you did for me Lynne.  You created a raving fan, who will always share this story.  I will treasure your artwork forever.

Hawaii Comic Con Dilemma: Who Will I be?

The Amazing Hawaii Comic Con is happening in just a little over two weeks.

Still didn’t decide on who I will be dressing up as.

First, it was Wonder Woman.  Because, well, who wouldn’t want to be Wonder Woman?

Then, we binge-watched Arrow, and I decided I wanted to be Nyssa Al Ghul because she is such a bad-ass.  But her costume is too complicated.

Then I thought, hey Catwoman is bad-ass too, why not Catwoman?  I did write a whole blog post about how in another realm and time I would love to be her.  But the catsuit thing, nuh-uhh.  Hawaii has been extremely hot and humid, I did not want to be sweatin’ in that.

Then we go into X-men Universe,  and Psylocke came to mind, but oh, she is too sexy for me.  I don’t think I can pull that purple spandex bathing suit.  Heard Olivia Munn “broke a crotch” trying on her costume! I am confident, but not that confident.

Then I come across X23.  Laura Kinney.

X-23 IS THE FEMALE CLONE OF WOLVERINE, CREATED TO BE THE PERFECT KILLING MACHINE.

I fell in love.Laura_Kinney_(Earth-TRN177)I also like the thought that I just might be able to pull this off.  Long black hair? Check.  Leather leggings and boots?  Check.  Claws?  Would to have them.  CHECK!

Best yet, her costume is easy!  Just have to pick up a pair of green contact lenses.

I will let you know how this goes in two weeks.  Will post lots of pictures, I promise!!!!

Typhoon Haiyan Relief

I think in life we get so wrapped up in everyday moments and our own little problems that we forget that there are others who are going through much more horrible things.

This past week I have been focused on three weekends of back-to-back craft fairs for Bohemian Princess, I have been heedless of what has been going on around me.  I have a two-week break since my next fair, and today, I was finally able to catch up with the world.  I am just heartbroken with the news of Typhoon Haiyan that occurred in the country where the rest of my family calls home.

With 1200 confirmed deaths, and the toll rising to even the possibility of 10,000 people losing their lives from one of Mother Nature’s random acts of destruction….

Read More Here

It’s one of those times I wish I was superwoman and had the ability to save all of those in need.  Knowing that there was no way I could have, I also know there is a way that I can do something about it…

For the next fairs, Bohemian Princess will be donating 20% of its profit towards Fashion With A Mission’s Philippine Relief fund.  The collected funds will be sent to assist everyone affected by the devastation.

Bohemian Princess will be in attendance in the following fairs:

(Pick your) Pocket Tee

My beautiful, wonderful…. and very creative sister, Ersa Millon, started a fashion fad in her school by sewing DIY pockets on solid crew-neck shirts.  Initially this is her individual attempt to raise funds for a event she’s been desperately wanting to go since her freshman year in high school- a school trip to New York City!   The incredible response from her classmates and peers—amazing!

Pick your pocket, and there you have it!

I have no doubt that she will sell a lot of these pocket tees.  Which, is why my darlings, I am telling the whole world about it 😉

I heard it through the grapevine that there is a boutique in Cali picking up this PocketTee idea and want her to be involved in designing the line. I am so proud of my sissy.  Seventeen years old and already on her way to establishing her own signature line.

I fully support her 101%, therefore I would like to share with you all some of the pocket tees Ersa created.

They are on sale for $12 each.  Available in Adult Sizes S, M, L in black, gray and other various colors.

If you are interested in ordering, please email me, or visit Ersa’s Etsy.

Geek Chic Stuffs- iPhone 5

It is official ladies and gents.

As of yesterday, September 12, the buzz and rumors going around about the new iPhone 5 has finally been confirmed.

The most important iPhone since the very first ever created, the iPhone 5 sound oh-so-fab.

Although I’m not one to constantly talk tech (I could if I want to), I am very excited about this one.

Specs/Built

The most obvious change is the significantly thinner and longer dimension. The iPhone 5 is 18% thinner and 20% lighter than the previous iPhone 4S. It is only 0.30 inches thick, weighing 3.95 ounces! This makes it the thinnest Smartphone in the world.  The larger 4-inch Retina Display produce 1136 x 640 resolution, making for more accurate display, with better color saturation. The processor, Apple’s new A6 chip is a smaller overall processor, with a performance capacity of twice as much as the A5 chip for the iPhone 4S. Amazing, a smaller chip at double the performance! To help keep up with this processor, of course this possibly means a higher RAM. Tech geeks are guessing a 1GB RAM, although unconfirmed by Apple (yet).

Camera

My favorite part (of course)- the built-in iSight Camera. Still at 8MP but focusing is dynamically improved and photo capture is expected to run faster. I really hate it when I try to take photo of something, and my phone is too slow to take it, making me totally miss the moment, so this is definitely an important aspect. Another new thing that sets them apart is the Panorama Stitch feature- the camera’s ability to capture beautiful panoramic photo simply by “stitching” together a landscape view taken in real-time. It can take up to 28 megapixels.

Video & FaceTime

Video capture and Facetime is also at its best. You can now take still photos while recording a video. Not only the iPhone 5 has a face recognition feature. Facetime is at 720p HD video, which means every blemish, every hair on your face is going to be visible. Just kidding, but totally fudging awesome.

Siri

Siri is still the phone’s Intelligence Assistant, aka my very own Secretary, and she’s also revamped. She has the ability to launch apps AND….get this FB addicts- Siri can post up your status for you.

Maps

Oh, and another rather dazzling new feature- Apple’s new Maps application, Turn-by-Turn Directions and Flyover. Flyover renders 3D models of cities in realtime. You can pan, rotate, and pan around photorealistic three-dimensional views of a city. The turn-by-turn feature is pretty self-explanatory, a must-have for drivers like moi who have little to no sense of direction. Again, fudging awesome.

Other miscellaneous specs and features include:
*A new charger/connector Apple named “Lightning” notably smaller than the 30-pin connector of all previous iPhones. There is no “right side up” which means you can connect it to your phone on either side.
*EarPods as headphones
*Headphone socket is on the bottom

A side-by-side Comparison of the iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 taken from APPLE below:
(Any booboos on my part please let me know. I do not tolerate rude comments, no thank you very much.)

Still not conviced? View Apple’s official iPhone 5 trailer below:

iPhone 5 will be released on Friday September 21st at 8am. Pre-orders begin tomorrow, Friday, September 14.

Now the fashionista’s dilemma- a stylish, chic iPhone 5 case.

I got an e-mail from Nordstrom yesterday the same time Apple’s announcement of this much-anticipated gadget, and boy I must say their marketing scheme is phenomenal. Designer brand Kate Spade is also releasing a collection of iPhone 5 cases (yes, you can pre-order).

A case that I have my eyes on.  No pun intended.

Isn’t it sassy? So excited. Can’t wait!

Love,
Honey

View from the Top- Mariners Ridge

Sunday morning, rain is falling…kind of.

Beautiful Hawaii nei was a bit cloudy this past weekend, but a few of us amigas took advantage of witnessing one of nature’s wonderful works of art.

After some motivational push that encouraged me to finally get out there and literally, take a hike, I did it. We did it.  My first hike after almost ten years-the last being at the Honouliuli Preserve, an academic requirement for my Environmental Science course at the time to help grow some of Hawaii’s endangered plants.

Where to, you ask.  The easy, breezy, and beautiful MARINER’S RIDGE in luscious Hawaii Kai.  A fairly simple hike for all ages, that even island girly girls like me can handle.  The hike begins at the end of Kaluanai Road, there is plenty of street parking.  There is a No Tresspassing sign at the beginning of the trail, but it’s alright for you to bypass that.  The trail 1.5 miles each way, but seems longer for those who haven’t hiked in years, especially with the increasing inclines  (ahem, like me).  Most of the trail is shaded, at some spots you just want to stay and feel the cold gust of wind.  You can stop and rest in between, as there are a lot of viewpoints.

The view from the top is absolutely breathtaking.  You see a stretch of the island’s Windward side, from Waimanalo to Kailua.  You can also catch a glimpse of Koko Head Crater, the Olomana Peaks, and Chinaman’s Hat in the distance.

Very well worth it.  Some of our photos below:

Dance of the Pink Peplum Fairy & the Newly Crowned Queens

Woke up this morning and felt the after effect of running around in heels for almost 12 hours straight.  Both of my legs are cramping.  Nothing new, though, just another day in the world of pageants and fashion shows.

Wearing a pink peplum dress and 5-inch pumps, surrounded by beautiful little princesses, on-the-go all day and all night- I felt like a (worn-out) Sugar Plum Fairy welcoming everyone to the Kingdom of Sweets.

Of course, minus the wings and the fancy, graceful ballet choreography to Tchaikovsky’s classic celesta piece.  Not to mention, my newly painted nails were peeling AND makeup smeared by the end of the evening.

All the months and months of preparation comes down to this one night.  And in the end it always, always is a splendid feeling to see my girls onstage, so brave and so elegant.  Once the lights turn off, the music starts playing, and the first contestant take their first walk and the audience are at awe, we know that all of it was worth it.

Crowning Glory- Little Princesses

Susan Page Modeling will be holding its fourth annual Little Miss Hawaii Princess and Junior Miss Hawaii Princess, and very first annual Tiny Miss Hawaii Princess Pageants on Saturday, September 1st 2012 at Leeward Community College.  There are 27 beautiful little princesses vying for the titles in three different age divisions, ages 4 to 9 years old.

Tiny Miss, Little Miss, and Junior Miss Hawaii Princess Contestants 2013

Pageants are remarkable experiences for little girls, and this is not the dreadful “tots and tiaras” pageants that you imagine them to be.  The girls learn confidence, poise, and grace. They are taught to be polite, to follow directions, to befriend and respect each other, just like how princesses should be.

The finalists have gone through a fun training workshop with Pageant Instructor and Director, one of the most amazing people I know, Ms. Shawn Torres-Akiyama.  They also had their professional pageant photos taken by one of Hawaii’s top fashion photographer, Adam Jung. Photographer Damien Bujecker will be in attendance to capture the pageant event on September 1st. This group is by far, my favorite group of little princesses I have had the opportunity to work with.

The finalists will be judged in 3 major categories- Fashion Modeling, Hawaiiana Beauty, Evening Gown, and an additional Overall Personality category.  Other Awards include Miss Congeniality, Most Photogenic, Miss Supermodel, Miss Fashionista, Miss Hawaiiana Beauty, Miss Popularity and People’s Choice Award.  The judging panel includes five professionals in Hawaii’s medical, fashion, beauty, art and pageant industries. The show will be emceed by the beautiful Miss Amber Stone.

Breathtaking performances by current titleholders of Susan Page Modeling’s sister pageants will also be featured- Shayna Raymond (Miss Hawaii Jr. Teen Princess 2012), Shardenei Luning (Miss Hawaii Preteen Princess 2012) and Jackie Taylor (Miss Hawaii Teen Beauty 2012). Taylor Kiehm, a promising young talent will also grace us with her captivating jazz and hula numbers.  Last year’s Queens, Brielle Sadorra, Junior Miss Hawaii Princess 2012 and Patricia Morta, Little Miss Hawaii Princess 2012 will be passing their titles to the 2013 winners.

This pageant have the largest group and the most beautiful princesses. Its definitely not one to miss!

Tickets are at $25.00 per person Pre-sale price, and $30.00 at the door. Visit www.susanpagemodeling.com or call (808) 955-2271 to order tickets.

Who will wear the crown?

Honey
