Oh how lovely. Feminine extravagance at its best.
We see a lot more Victorian inspired fashion on the runway with Alexander McQueen’s Pre-Fall 2012 Collection. Under the creative direction of Sarah Burton, McQueen’s Pre-Fall line maintains its museum-worthy couture lavishness.
A lush autumn palette with bustlingly full skirts and belted, cinched waist is the primary element in the collection. High-necklines and poplin shirts with cropped pants are incorporated, maintaining the Victorian era inspiration, with some off the shoulder peasant blouses, suggesting a Spanish influence. Fabrication includes rich velvet with intricate embroidery, floral detailing, frothy tulle and diaphanous fabrics as light as air.
Dramatic and theatrical, but still wearable.
