Love, Honey

a story of stardust, sparkles, and all things pretty

Bar Bae at the Honolulu Festival

Four Sisters & A Very Big Weekend

Some ideas start small.

Like a conversation between sisters that starts with “what if…” and slowly turns into “okay but actually… why not?”

That’s pretty much how Bar Bae began.

My sister Natalie and I have always loved bringing people together. It started with the small get-togethers we’d host—friends and family around the table, drinks flowing, snacks everywhere, everyone staying longer than they probably planned. The kind of nights where someone says, “okay last drink,” and then two hours later you’re still sitting there talking.

Somewhere between those evenings, we started wondering: what if we turned this into something we could share with more people?

Sometimes I still think about those early conversations between us. Two sisters imagining something that didn’t exist yet—and deciding, very casually, to just go ahead and build it.

And now somehow that little idea is stepping into something much bigger.

This year, Bar Bae will be participating in the Honolulu Festival—our very first major festival pop-up.

Which is wild, if I’m being honest.

And for this one, it won’t just be the two of us. Our sisters Dessa and Ersa are jumping in to help too, which means Bar Bae is basically showing up as a four-sister operation.

What started as an idea between two sisters is now showing up with four.

If you live in Hawaiʻi, you already know what the Honolulu Festival is. It’s one of those weekends when the whole city feels alive. Cultural groups, performers, artists, and visitors from across the Pacific come together for a huge celebration of music, dance, food, and community.

And tens of thousands of people come through.

So yes… we’re excited.

Also mildly nervous. But mostly excited.

There’s something surreal about seeing Bar Bae step into a space like this. But when I really think about it, it kind of makes sense.

Bar Bae was always about connection. About creating those little moments where people pause, laugh, and enjoy something good together—even if it’s just for a few minutes between performances or walking through the festival.

So we’ll be there with our mocktails, our charcuterie, and four sisters trying not to look too shocked that this is actually happening.

If you’re visiting the Honolulu Festival this year, come find us. We would absolutely love to say hello.

Funny how something that started around our own table is now heading to one of the biggest events in Hawaiʻi.

Nat and I are still kind of in awe about that.

Love,

Honey
