Susan Page Modeling is producing its first annual Ms. Armed Forces Hawaii 2012 Pageant on Saturday, March 24th at Mamiya Theater. There are 13 lovely ladies vying for the title, all of whom are 18 years old and older and are either active duty or spouses/dependents of military personnel in the different branches of service- Army, Navy, Coast Guard, Marine, and Air Force.

President and Owner of Susan Page Modeling, and Founder of the Ms. Armed Forces Hawaii Pageant, (and also one of the most inspirational people in my life) Mrs. Rebecca Schumacher designed the pageant to celebrate women of the Armed Forces. “It’s not just a pageant, it’s an experience,” Rebecca tells the candidates.  Of course it’s so much more than a competition- it’s an experience that will create new friendships and wonderful memories that will last a lifetime. Some of the contestants have already been featured in our Fall Fashion Show in December entitled “Winter Wonderland”, showcasing wedding gowns from one of the pageant’s sponsors, B’Ellagance Bridal & Gowns.

Beginning this Saturday, January 28th, the ladies will be attending a six-week pageant training course instructed by Pageant Director Marybeth Jenkins. Additional events and activities lined up for the ladies include a makeup workshop with Keahi Kirley, hair clinic sponsored by L’Oreal, a photo shoot with Damien Bujeker, and a zumba and fitness session with Miss MMA Hawaii Leslie Kaleiwahea.

Like the previous pageants, I will be assisting in the Administrative side and also designing the pageant book, as well as donating some handmade jewelries on behalf of Fashion with A Mission.  As of today most of the paperwork have been completed, including the judging criteria and what it means to reign as the Ms. Armed Forces 2012.

The objective of this pageant is to showcase our beautiful, intelligent, and strong women of the Armed Forces as well as the women who support a loved one serving in the Armed Forces. The ultimate goal of the judges is to evaluate and select a winner who is a strong role model and demonstrates a positive attitude towards her family and her country. She must have strong physical, mental and emotional characteristics that set her apart from other delegates. She must be poised, graceful, and elegant and firmly stands for what she believes in while being supportive and understanding in others opinions. Ms. Armed Forces Hawaii is a woman who posses all attributes of a beauty queen- a woman who is sincere, and knows how to maintain her integrity and humility in everything she sets to accomplish. Ms. Armed Forces Hawaii is a woman who is beautiful inside and out— someone who is very proud of her country and in her position within the Armed Forces.

The contestants will be judged in four phases of competition: Swimwear (15%), Talent/Spokesmodel (20%), Evening Gown (30%), Interview (25%), and overall Personality (10%).

An impressive panel of judges within the modeling and entertainment industry in Hawaii has been selected, and three of the five judges have been confirmed including Hawaii’s Ari Gold, Premier Models & Talent Director/Owner Douglas Lange, the beautiful and exotic Miss Hawaii USA 2011 Angela Byrd, and the legendary Ms. Susan Page herself! Dignitaries from the Armed Forces and the community will also be in attendance.

Winners will receive cash prizes, modeling scholarship, photo shoot, a modeling contract, beauty baskets, gift certificates, jewelries and other great prizes from our pageant sponsors. The newly crowned Ms. Armed Forces Hawaii 2012 will also be donating 10% of the ticket proceeds to her choice of Special Services, which means the more tickets we sell, the more we can donate to a cause.
