These past three weeks of my free time I had spent creating beautiful accessories with special meaning and symbolism.

Earrings and pens made from beautiful and vibrant Tibetan peacock feathers symbolizing beauty, grace, enlightenment, protection, renewal and good luck…

Inspired by my lucky peacock decor that hangs in my living room, I wanted to share the goodness I feel when I see it…The vibrant hues lifts up any spirit, and encourage a promising tomorrow.

I have also learned to fashion paper crane earrings created from high-quality origami yuzen paper. Various beads, gemstones and pearls are incorporated into the paper crane to create unique earrings- none of the designs are the same.

Tsuru, or paper crane is a symbol of hope, peace, happiness, loyalty, good health and yes, good luck. Legend has it is you make fold 1000 paper cranes, and you get to make a wish.

My wish in this lifetime, is to sell one thousand paper crane earrings.

Pens and earrings will be posted for sale on my Etsy within the next few days. Hope you like them! They make perfect Mother’s Day Gifts ;)

I am very blessed that in my profession, not only am I able to meet a lot of different people, but I also have the opportunity to see them grow, and make a difference in their lives. Some I work with for a short while, while some end up having a special place in my heart. They learn from me, but I learn from them even more. They, in their own way, inspire me to do better.

Seeing them strive for their dreams, to make them come true- whether it be for modeling, or acting, or pageants….they keep me motivated to keep doing what I’m doing with passion.

Particularly, one of my favorite girls in this industry- Elisabeth Levine, or as we call her Lizzy.

Lizzy

At sixteen years old, Lizzy is one of the most beautiful girls you’ll meet. She is not just pretty on the outside- she is smart, has a good head on her shoulders, and is so full of life. Lizzy will light up any room she walks in without even trying. She also has wonderful parents that supports her 101% in anything she sets her heart to.

Right now, Lizzy is a finalist for American Eagle’s Project Live Your Life.  American Eagle Outfitters is currently on a search for new faces for their upcoming campaign.

Lizzy is currently leading in the Bright & Bold Category.  Not so come off as a saleswoman, but PLEASE VOTE FOR LIZZY.

LizzyAE

Sharing this with you all is a way of showing my support and my love for this amazing young woman.  I am a big fan of Lizzy- I think she is a great example of what girls should be at this age and this generation. She said she wants to make us very proud, but we already are ;)

One day, Lizzy Levine is going to take this world by storm, just wait and see.

Love & Happiness

Are you happy?

Happiness is a choice.  Choose it.  It’s not hard.

Just live life as if everything is magnificent, a miracle.  Look beyond the imperfections, the teeny things that don’t matter because there’s bigger more important things that do.  Enjoy, seize and love every moment. In reality it’s not really what you have that makes you happy… or who or where you are, or what you’re doing….It’s what you think. If you’re in a miserable place but you think beautiful, happy thoughts, then you’re happy.  Believe that if you think it, it will be.  So if you want to be happy, there is no other way but to be.

And love?

Don’t go looking for it.  Because it will find you. I promise.

Love yourself first.  Love the world and the people around you, and everything will fall into place.

The person you are meant to be with- he/she will come around.  The secret is to know that the this person, they’re already a part of you.  And when that one day come, you will know.

So don’t worry…be happy.

Sunday evening my inner domestic goddess decided she wanted to bake cookies.

Using scraps I found in my cupboard and fridge, and a little bit of help from google (on substituting baking powder for baking soda), I created my super delish version of Peanut Butter & Toffee Cookies.

PeanutButterToffeeCookies

PeanutButterToffeeCookies2

INGREDIENTS

3/4 cup flour
3/4 tsp baking powder
1/8 tsp salt
4 tbsp unsalted butter
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup Natural Honey Peanut Butter
1 large egg
1/2 cup Heath toffee bits

MIXING DIRECTIONS

Preheat oven to 350°F.
In a medium bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, and salt together.
In a separate bowl (large) beat butter and sugar using an electric mixer- setting on high. Beat until light and fluffy.
Add peanut butter and egg and beat until smooth.
Change mixer setting to low. Slowly add flour mixture.
Stir in toffee.

BAKING DIRECTIONS

Drop 1 tablespoon of batter onto baking sheets about 1 inch apart
Flatten with a fork if you like.
Bake until edges are golden brown, about 15 minutes.
Transfer cookies to a wire rack to cool completely.

Enjoy!!!! Tastes even yummier with milk!!!

Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny….Bikini Season

Tags

The stormy weather last week was a sign that Hawaii nei was still in Winter Season, but it’s all done and over now (I hope) which, means………….

It’s officially SPRING!!! Woooohooo! Which means it’s BIKINI SEASON!!!!

Okay, okay…I know with Hawaii’s usually sunny skies and ideal paradise climate you can pretty much wear a bikini any day of the year, but I just like the pleasure of thinking we can have Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter here too ;)
Anyway, here are some guidelines to finding the sexiest swimsuit for your body type.

STRAIGHT, ATHLETIC BUILD
*Choose padded tops to add cleavage or pieces with intricate detailing to add interest on your not-so-interesting bosoms.
*Styles such as ring-top bandeaus, ruffled trim swimsuits, and tops with wider neck straps will give you a va-vavoom effect!

Swimsuit-AthleticStraightBody

TOP-HEAVY, “APPLE” SHAPED BUILD
*Opt for more structured suits to keep your girls in place ;) you don’t want them too free that you set yourself up for a wardrobe malfunction. Tops with underwire support are your best choice.
*Halter tops are a better selection than triangular or bandeau tops, which tend to smash your boobies together- skimpy AND unflattering.
*Think prints! Patterns keep the eyes busy and are slimming than solid-colored ensembles.
*If you prefer solid colors, go for one-piece swimsuits with details on the midsection area, such as rouching, or gathering of fabric or even an embellishment to create a slimming and flattering division between the chest and hips

Swimsuit-AppleShaped

BOTTOM-HEAVY, “PEAR” SHAPED BUILD
*Stay away from boy-shorts style bikini bottoms, which cut thighs off in all the wrong places. Select higher-cut bottoms to give legs thinner and longer appearance. String bikinis are a must!
*Tankini is your best friend- great for concealing a heavy mid-section.
*Draw attention on your upper body by wearing bright or printed bikini tops, and darker bikini bottoms.
*A deep V-neck also shows off your sexy upper body
*Go nautical and pair a striped top with a solid bikini bottom- eyes will directly notice the striped pattern and forgets your bottom-heavy silhouette

Swimsuit-PearShaped

CURVY, HOURGLASS FIGURE
*Most styles will match an hour-glass figure, the main thing to remember is choose styles that won’t knock your figure out of proportion!
*Remember, simplicity’s best!
*Wear bikini tops with underwire support and stay away from padded styles as they will create a heavier upper body
*Avoid bottoms with side ties or chunky waistband as it will draw attention to your hips, widening your bottom
*Don’t wear bottoms with heavy print design or horizontal stripes, as it will create a bottom-heavy figure. Narrow stripes should be okay.

Swimsuit-HourGlass

So my next dilemma is getting this beachin’ body back, because I have been, as you know my darlings…slackin in my fitness :(

I am hoping within the next six weeks to fit into this bikini from VS:

Super sexy, super fierce…. ;)

Dinosaur Bones = Statement Accessories?

Renowned fine jewelry designer, natural history fetishist and philanthropist Monique Péan’s Fall 2013 Collection features 150 million-year-old dino bones. Yes, darlings…dinosaur bones.

MoniquePeanF2013

Who would have thought fossilized bones of extinct animals from hundreds of millions of years ago would even be considered as fashion accessories?

Péan did, with passion…and with a purpose. In 2006, she debuted her eco-friendly and sustainable fine jewelry collection inspired by Alaskan Native art and culture, featuring her signature fossilized woolly mammoth and fossilized walrus ivory. The collection is comprised of varying fine jewelry styles, from statement necklaces, earrings and bracelets to pendants, beaded bracelets, bangles and rings. In her current collections, Péan uses other ecological, natural materials such as 18 carat 100% recycled gold, sustainable buffalo horn, fair-trade precious stones and repurposed diamonds and diamond slices to name a few.

The Power Pout- Fuchsia is the New Red

One of my favorite pieces to write about, PINK LIPSTICK.  This reminds me so much of college days- Theater class.  Part of an icebreaker was to go around the room describing our fellow classmates in three words.  When it was about me, an undergrad named Jack had said “Honey?!…Uhhh, long black hair, dangly earrings and pink lips.”   Statement lipstick back in the day was too bold and daring.  But whaddayah know, nothing changed.  In style or not, I still wear pink lipstick up until today. ;)

HoneyAubrey_hotpinklips

And I’m so happy  that in the fashion world, statement lips aren’t going anywhere this season. More specifically, fuchsia pink.

Fresher than red, fuchsia is a mix of naughty and nice- cool and luxurious, trendy but still ladylike.  It’s the perfect alternative to the classic red lips especially during spring and summer.

pinklips2013

First time trying out this show-stopper look?  See below for tips on how to wear it right:

*Make sure you’ve exfoliated your lips so that they’re smooth and soft.
*Keep it simple. Choose base makeup that’s subtle but defined enough so the bright pink shade doesn’t wash you out. Yes, you can still wear eye makeup, but go easy on your eyeshadow choice.
*If you have cooler skin, select a lipstick one with blue undertones. and if you have warm undertones, opt for something more orange or red-based.
*For a longer-lasting effect, pat a bit of concealer or foundation over your lips to anchor the color.
*Apply one coat of color, then blot with a tissue, and apply a second coat. This helps absorbs any moisture in the lipstick so that the color looks bolder. The second coat helps the color stay on longer.

Walk the Line- Stripes Fashion

Stripes—-one of the biggest trends this spring!

A classical, timeless, fun and edgy piece, stripes make another comeback this season.  Only bigger, bolder…even more colorful, and versatile.

From classic mod stripes (Michael Kors), to whimsical nautical stripes (Vivienne Westwood), Bohemian stripes (Dolce and Gabbana), chevron stripes (Jonathan Saunders), Warholian stripes (Marc Jacobs)… even elegantly-striped gowns (Oscar de la Renta)!

StripesFashion_Spring2013

Some tips on how to wear stripes:

*Choose pieces that accentuate your waist.
*Don’t let stripes overwhelm your figure.
*For petites, vertically striped pants or skirts can make you look taller when worn with a solid-colored top.
*For dresses, avoid horizontal stripes that widen your shape.
*If you have a boyish figure horizontal stripes will give the illusion of curves. This helps enhance your proportion with distortion.

*Darker colors are more slimming than lighter ones.

My darling good friend Jena will be celebrating her 28th birthday this Saturday, and this fellow fashionista’s theme is stripes! Still contemplating on what type of outfit to put together. A few ideas below:

New Year, No Resolutions…New Attitude

Tags

Merry new year my darlings!

Mahalo nui loa for all my amazing friends and family who greeted me on my 26th Birthday this past Thursday, Dec. 27th. Hugs & Kisses from yours truly!

20121230-104738.jpg

2013 is fast approaching and everyone is getting their New Year’s resolution lists in time to begin midnight Tuesday.

No resolutions for me, no sir. I think it’s more important to have a new way of thinking, a new attitude in the different everyday things we deal with rather than shooting for changing things and people that we can’t control.

As I slowly learn in this life, I have come to acknowledge that the only way to deal with unchanging circumstances (and people) is to change the way you relate to them. The changes you make, this new attitude you have will precipitate change in others.

Some fresh and fabulous ways of thinking to get us through the new year. When you’re feeling down, keep these thoughts in mind. Your new attitude will get you back up and moving.

Follow your heart.
Happiness is yours to take.
This is your life and you deserve the absolute best.
Be kind to yourself.
Embrace possibility.
Believe in your power.
Exceed your expectations.
Mean what you say.
Express gratitude.
Know when you did something wrong and apologize.
Never give up.
You’re beautiful and special and there is only one you!
Love your life and the people who make it worthwhile.
